Something fun about researching two family trees at the same time is trying to find links between them.
Here's a list of families that my girlfriend and I both descend of. However, I've yet to find any definite links between the two sets (meaning they're unrelated, as far as I know, for now), some are miles and miles apart, and some are common surnames.

HOFFMANN
KUHN
MAIER/MAYER
SCHLOSSER
SCHMITT
WAGNER
WAHL
WILHELM
(Also LANG, but her Lang family was in England and mine was in France so probably no connection.)
I'll post another blog entry soon looking at these families a bit closer. I'll see which ones are closest geographically and where we're most likely to connect if you go back far enough. Certainly at least one of them, we probably connect.

Hi, I know your girlfriend casually through an online forum. She said if anyone was interested in having you dig through their family tree to post a message in your blog... would you be interested?
I'm mostly Jamaican and Italian but also am told I have some Scotch-Irish, Chinese, and Caribbean Indian blood in me as well, so I always thought it would be interesting to track my family history though I lack the know-how.

Hi Megan, Thanks for the comment. My girlfriend's right, I love helping people out by looking up their family trees. Usually I can put together a basic tree for them and then give them tips on how to do research themselves if they want to go further. I e-mailed you and I'd love to poke around for your fam. I am a KUHN decendant from my grandfather who is german he married a french woman with the last name lacriox. His own mother has this last name a a maiden name. His father came from germany and married a woman from france in the US . My grandfater went to ww2 and met another french woman with lacrios as the maiden name. probably from the same family! I guess German men like french woman. Are you and I related?
How interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if we are but Kuhn is a fairly common name, as well.
